Abstract
In the present study, the soluble proteins of Echinococcus were separated by thin-layer isoelectric focusing in polyacrylamide gels (pH range 3.5-9.5), in order to determine whether inter and intraspecific differences can be detected by this technique. The two distinct species E. granulosus and E. multilocularis were compared, as well as the two well documented intraspecific variants of E. granulosus, the 'horse' and 'sheep' strains.
