Abstract
Hepatitis B virus (HEV) has been identified in a number of nonhuman primate species, including the Silvery gibbon (Hylobates moloch). The Perth Zoo has a successful Silvery gibbon breeding program and has developed an HBV vaccination regime to protect offspring of this species. Serologic testing has demonstrated that this vaccination regime has been successful in producing a serologic response consistent withvaccine-induced immunity.
